“I woke up thirsty on an island in the sea,” begins the last track on the Unicorns’ 2003 “Who Will Cut Our Hair When We’re Gone.” Given the narrative cohesion of the Unicorns, I’ve often wondered if that ending was a precursor to the Islands, the band comprised of former unicorns. Their debut album “Return to the Sea” will be released April 3. In the meantime, however, you can get a taste of what to expect from the album by joining them for a part of their North American voyage.

The tour hits many of the common American haunts, but is descively favored toward our neighbors to the North. I guess that’s no surprise for a band based out of Quebec. Nevertheless, I do suggest checking them out if you have a chance. The Unicorns put on an interesting show, and I expect no less from Islands.
