South by Southwest, or SXSW if you’re one of the hip kids, has announced the schedule for their 2006 event. The nine day festival features the latest sights and sounds from the industry of cool. Practically all of the “in” bands and films will be showcased to the gluttonous masses. Unfortunately, I can’t attend due to my school situation, but I’ll be there in spirit.

Some of the bands to note are: Animal Collective, Belle and Sebastian, Be Your Own Pet, The Boy Least Likely To, Calexico, Neko Case, Cat Power, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Clor, Destroyer, Dirty Pretty Things, Jorge Drexler, Echo & the Bunnymen, Elbow, Gogol Bordello, The Go! Team, Headphones, The Juan Maclean, Lady Sovereign, The Magic Numbers, Magnolia Electric Company, Servena Maneesh, Mates of State, Of Montreal, Morrisey, Beth Orton, The Secret Machines, the Apples in Stereo, Arab Strap, Art Brut, the Avalanches, Dirty Projecors, Goldfrapp, Great Lake Swimmers, Ted Leo and the Pharmacists, Minus the Bear Mogwai, the New Pornographers, Test Icicles, Xiu Xiu, and A LOT of others.
