Things to do: NYC

The Boy Least Likely To at R & R
Big, big recommendation on this. Their 2005 release Best Party Ever plays like an adolescent nightmare. There are so many resonant emotions on it, that it’s hard not to parallel it to one’s own life. They have this misleadingly jovial sound about them, but pay attention to the lyrics and you’ll hear their real allure. The Boy will be playing a few shows around NYC in the next week or so, but I think this will be the best opportunity to see the act without some meddlesome opening band.

Carina Round at Rothko
For those of you who missed her last night, you’ve got another shot. I’ve been told her set last night was a bit short because she was scrunched between two crap bands. Sorry, but that seems to be the situation again tonight. I dunno what the deal with that is.

What not to do:
Tea Leaf Green and U-Melt at the Knitting Factory
Hippy jam bands are eroding the fabric of music that doesn’t suck. We must resist!
