Dirtfoot with Kelcy Mae and Chris Alexander at Zeitgeist- NOLA
Ah yes, a little dirty Southern music. It’s experimental folk night at Zeitgeist. Dirtfoot is folk punk–yea figure that one out. It works though. Check them out on Myspace if you don’t believe me. They sound something like what The Squirrel Nut Zippers would be if you dragged them through some hurricane puddles and didn’t allow them to sleep off that drunk. About the support: Kelcy Mae is the most laid back of the bunch, delivering subtle lit folk with a nice charm. Chris Alexander calls himself techno folk. I don’t hear it. I like it. But I think it’s an erroneous description. Oh well. Cover is $5 and this is an early show, beginning at 8PM.

Alright, listen close. Imagine the Band is opening for this show. If you’re not familiar with this act, let me explain it to you very simply. It’s the worst thing you’re likely ever to see/hear, with the possible exception of MC Tracheotomy. It’s one guy who covers songs a capella. This is a Liveneworleans.com show and I really cannot figure out why they’d book such a terrible opener. Egg Yolk Jubilee, however, as I’ve said repeatedly, is most excellent–so get there late.

There have been flyers for this show all over for weeks. I listened to them a few nights ago and they’re not good. Sucks, because I like d.b.a. a lot.
