Rehage Entertainment has announced the headliners for the 2006 Voodoo Music Festival in New Orleans. Red Hot Chili Peppers and Duran Duran will be on the main bill this year. The two day festival has continued to expand over recent years, making it one of those most significant events in the country. This year’s headliners are a slight disappointment for me, but I hope that the other performers will be interesting. Red Hot Chili Peppers are in the midst of touring extensively in support of their newest album Stadium Arcadium, which as John put it is 24 tracks of exactly the same thing–not much of a surprise in my opinion.

Last year’s festival offered a stellar lineup including NiN, Flaming Lips, Billy Idol, The Decemberists, Handsome Boy Modeling School and more. Unfortunately, due to Hurricane Katrina, the event was condensed and split between New Orleans and Memphis. It was a ridiculous move considering the event easily could have been moved 70 miles west to Baton Rouge.

Anyway, here’s hoping they rebound. Tickets are currently on sale for $50. The price is expected to rise soon.
